## What it does

Prompts for Education is a Microsoft-maintained prompt library for K-12 and higher education staff and students. The repository is organized into four role-based sections — Educators (lesson design, automating routine tasks, answering student questions), Students (exploring subjects, enhancing creativity, personalizing learning), Staff (workflow automation, communication drafts), and Administrators (policy documents, reporting, professional development plans). Prompts are designed for ChatGPT, Bing Chat/Copilot, and any capable instruction-following model including Claude.

The repository is described as a work in progress: prompt density varies by section. The Educators section is most developed and covers creating engaging lessons, answering common student inquiries, and automating routine administrative writing. MIT licensed.

## Install / access

Repository: https://github.com/microsoft/prompts-for-edu

Browse the four role folders on GitHub — Educators/, Students/, Staff/, Administrators/ — and copy the relevant prompts into Claude Projects, ChatGPT Custom Instructions, or Microsoft Copilot. No install required.

## When to use

Use this when you want a Microsoft-vetted starting point for education prompts, particularly for Copilot integration in an organization already using Microsoft 365. The Educators section is most useful for lesson design and student-facing communication tasks.
